Julika Jenkins

 

Julika was born in 1971 in Heidelberg, South-West Germany to a Welsh father and a German-French mother. In 1991 she moved to Munich to attend the renowned Otto-Falckenberg acting school.

 

​She first graced the boards at the Münchner Kammerspiele, appearing in plays such as THE MOON IN THE GRASS,  directed by Robert Wilson (1993) and KRACH IN CHIOGGIA, by Carlo Goldoni, which went on to tour Bavaria.

 

In 1994 she moved to Zurich to join the Neumarkt Theatre Company, with which she went on to do over twenty plays, two of which where invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen.

 

In 1999 she made the move to Berlin to join Thomas Ostermeier´s company at the Schaubühne. Having left the company in 2003 to work freelance, she has since appeared at the Schauspielhaus Zurich, the Münchner Kammerspiele (again), the Volksbühne Berlin, Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Schauspiel Frankfurt and most recently at The Gate Theatre, Dublin where she played the role of Irmgard in Hugo Hamilton’s THE SPECKLED PEOPLE.
 

Recent screen credits include the American espionage series BERLIN STATION, in which she played the role of Ruth Iosava alongside Richard Armitage and Rhys Ifan, the long-running German series TATORT, KOMMISSARIN HELLER: HITZSCHLAG directed by Christian Balthasar for ZDF, DER KRIMINALIST, SOKO STUTTGART, the role of Cosima in TIEFE WUNDEN directed by Markus Rosenmuller and THE NIGHTMARE ('Der Nachtmahr') directed by Achim Bornhak, in which she played the role of Tina's mutter. 

Other notable film appearances include the Portuguese film BODY RICE (winner of the special prize of the jury at the Locarno film festival in 2006), the Swiss film VITUS alongside Bruno Ganz (shortlisted for the Oscars in 2007), UN HOMME ET SON CHIEN with Jean-Paul Belmondo (2008) and SOMEONE LIKE ME ('Eine wen iig, dr Dällebach Kari') directed by Xavier Koller.

 

Julika's forthcoming projects include the role of of Claudia Tiedemann in the German Netflix series DARK, which will premiere at Toronto International Film Festival ahead of it's official release later in 2017. She also recently wrapped filming the role of Beate Jürgens in EIN KIND WIRD GESUCHT, a feature directed by Urs Egger.

Julika is based in Berlin.
