Bosco Hogan
Bosco Hogan is one of Ireland’s best-known and most respected actors.
Recently filmed the role of Pastor in feature BUCKING FASTARD directed by Werner Herzog for
Hanway Films.
His recent theatre credits include Nagg in ENDGAME for Druid, directed by Garry Hynes, and Newspaper Man in Druid’s UK and Ireland tour of THE LAST RETURN, directed by Sara Joyce.
Further stage credits include Grillaan in Brian Friel’s THE ENEMY WITHIN at An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny, directed by Caitríona McLaughlin; Frank in Una McKevitt’s ONE GOOD TURN at the Abbey Theatre, directed by Emma Jordan; and Peter in Druid’s THE SEAGULL at Coole Park, directed by Garry Hynes.
He also played King Edward IV and the Bishop of Ely in Druid’s RICHARD III, directed by Garry Hynes, which played at Lincoln Center, New York.
His screen credits include the Priest in Ridley Scott’s THE LAST DUEL, Athelred in VIKINGS: VALHALLA for Netflix, MISS SCARLET & THE DUKE, directed by Declan O’Dwyer, and James Lane in CITIZEN LANE, directed by Thaddeus O’Sullivan for RTÉ. He also played Mendel in MIRAGE, directed by Sil van der Woerd, and Ol’ Ned in Stacie Passon’s WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN THE CASTLE, alongside Sebastian Stan, Taissa Farmiga and Alexandra Daddario.
Other screen credits include the fifth season of VIKINGS for the History Channel; Flint in THE FLAG, directed by Declan Recks; Dr Louie Byrne in TV3’s TRIAL OF THE CENTURY, directed by Maurice Sweeney; and William Martin Murphy in THE INQUIRY for Esras Films. He is also known for his role as Bishop Piccolomini in Neil Jordan’s THE BORGIAS.
His extensive theatre credits include Charlie Tobin in Eugene McCabe’s KING OF THE CASTLE for Druid, directed by Garry Hynes; Father Sheridan in JIMMY’S HALL, directed by Graham McLaren; and Old Pyper in Frank McGuinness’s OBSERVE THE SONS OF ULSTER MARCHING TOWARDS THE SOMME at the Abbey Theatre, directed by Jeremy Herrin.
At the Gate Theatre, he played Alfieri in A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE, directed by Joe Dowling, and Lane in THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, directed by Patrick Mason, which also played at the Spoleto Festival in the USA. Further Druid credits include Séamus in Tom Murphy’s BRIGIT and the acclaimed DRUIDSHAKESPEARE project.
