Frank Laverty

 

Frank recently completed filming the role of Ciaran in new Merman series EMERALD for Apple TV+.

 

He was recently seen in the role of Greg in ITV's EMMERDALE and the role of Michael in Shane Meadow's THE VIRTUES for Channel 4 and Warp films.

 

He started his career as an Abbey player after graduating from drama college in Dublin. He has worked at the Abbey Theatre regularly over the past 20 years where he has appeared in various productions including IPHIGENIA AT AULIS, PORTIA COUGHLAN, AWAY ALONE, SOUR GRAPES, THE HAMLET PROJECT, THE COUNTESS CATHLEEN, SILVERLANDS, THE WINTER THIEF, ON THE OUTSIDE/ON THE INSIDE, THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, FAMINE, TRANSLATIONS and ARISTOCRATS  among others. In 2016 Frank returned to the Abbey Stage as Conor Day in Frank McGuinness' DONEGAL, directed by Conall Morrisson. 

 

Other recent theatre projects include Out of Joint's production of ALL THAT FALL by Samuel Beckett, directed by Max Stafford Clark at the Bristol Old Vic and Wiltons Music Hall, London, THE PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD directed by John Crowley at the Old Vic, the role of Pato Dooley in Martin McDonagh’s THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE directed by Joe Hill Gibbins at The Young Vic, London and Gaiety Theatre, Dublin; the Abbey Theatre's production of THE HOUSE directed by Annabell Comyn and A PARTICLE OF DREAD directed by Nancy Meckler with the Field Day Theatre Company. 

Further theatre work includes A SKULL IN CONNEMARA, PHILADELPHIA HERE I COME, SILVERLANDS, SONG OF THE YELLOW BITTERN and AT THE BLACK PIGS DYKE (all with Druid) WORDS OF ADVICE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE and DREAM OF AUTUMN (Rough Magic​) and THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE and THE BELFRY (Livin Dred’).

 

A well-known face in Irish and UK television, Frank has appeared in productions including DOCTORS and CASUALTY (both for the BBC) GLENROE, REBEL HEART, ON HOME GROUND, LOVE IS THE DRUG, STARDUST, AN GAELTACHT, PURE MULE SINGLE-HANDED and RAW all for RTÉ. His film credits include roles in Neil Jordan’s MICHAEL COLLINS, THE ABDUCTION CLUB, THE CLOSER YOU GET, John Boorman’s THE GENERAL, NOBLE directed by Stephen Bradley and the Jimi Hendrix biopic ALL IS BY MY SIDE directed by John Ridley.

He is based in London.
