Gavin O'Connor

 

Gavin trained at Trinity College Dublin where he received a BA in Drama.

He recently completed filming the role of Steve Neill in ITV & World Production's THE HUNT FOR RAOUL MOAT as well as his recurring role of Anglia in series 3 of VIKINGS: VALHALLA for MGM/Netflix. Other recent TV credits include the role of Bryan in Viaplay series NORTH SEA CONNECTION which was shown on RTE 1 and he can currently be seen on Netflix in the role of Murphy in Paramount series THE ALIENIST: ANGEL OF DARKNESS.

Gavin also recently played the role of Mackin in TAKEN DOWN for Spiral Pictures/ RTÉ, written by Stuart Carolan and Jo Spain and directed by David Caffrey.

 

Other recent credits include his acclaimed performance as Seán Doherty in the RTÉ's CHARLIE opposite Aidan Gillen for Element Pictures & Touchpaper TV and the role of Padraig Pearse in THE BLOODY IRISH directed by Michael Barker-Caven for PBS America and David Gleeson's feature film DON'T LET GO, where he played the role of Norton. 

Known for his role as Shrewsbury opposite Jonathan Rhys Meyers in THE TUDORS for Showtime, Gavin’s other notable TV appearances include TITANIC: BLOOD & STEEL directed by Ciaran Donnelly; SINGLE HANDED for ITV/RTE directed by Charlie McCarthy; SHOWBANDS 1 & 2 directed by Ian Fitzgibbon; RÁSAÍ NA GALLIMHE 1 & 2 directed by Robert Quinn; STARDUST for RTÉ directed by Ciaran Donnelly; TEENAGE CICS for BBC/TG4 and THIS TIME ROUND for RTÉ both directed by Frank Berry, and THE AMBASSADOR for BBC.

 

His feature film credits include THIS MUST BE THE PLACE with Sean Penn and directed by Paolo Sorrentino; FIFTY DEAD MEN WALKING directed by Kari Skogland; Agnes Merlet’s DOROTHY MILLS; EDEN directed by Declan Recks; David Gleeson’s THE FRONT LINE; THIS IS MY FATHER opposite Aidan Quinn and directed by Paul Quinn;  HEADRUSH written and directed by Shimmy Marcus; WHEN THE SKY FALLS directed by John McKenzie; THE INFORMANT directed by Jim McBride; BLOODLINES: LEGACY OF A LORD for Film 4; John Forte’s MAD ABOUT MAMBO and TURNING GREEN directed by Aimette & Hoffman.

 

Gavin’s theatre appearances include Packo in Pat McCabe’s LOCO COUNTY LONESOME at The Olympia Theatre; Joe Da Vinci in Brendan Behan’s BORSTAL BOY directed by Joe Dowling; Laertes in HAMLET for Second Age; A WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE at The Abbey Theatre; Michael Harding’s CEACHT HOUDINI at the Peacock Theatre; Alice Barry’s I LIKE ARMADILLOS at The Andrews Lane Theatre and AN TRIAIL for Aisling Ghéar.

 

An accomplished voice-over artist, Gavin works extensively on numerous radio, TV and cinema campaigns and has also voiced animation including GALACTIK FOOTBALL; THE MAD COWS and BOTTLER as well as the voice of Kian in the computer game DREAMFALL: THE LONGEST JOURNEY.

 

Short films include FANATIC; ROSEBUD; THE BLACK SUIT; BOAT RACING and THE BOYS FROM BARR NA SRÁIDE.

 

Gavin's first short film as writer/producer BLINK, directed by Conor Maloney, was nominated last year in World Competition at The Montreal World Film Festival.
