Carmel Stephens


Carmel has just completed filming the role of Dr Helen Fahy in BBC series SMOTHER.


She recently returned to the role of Doris Burgess in The Gate Theatre production of  Roddy Doyle’s hit THE SNAPPER.

2016 saw Carmel return to work after taking time out to establish her family. She took on the title role of Clare in CLARE AND TOM, a play written and directed by Mina Tenison and the role of Áine for the TG4 comedy-drama FIR BOLG.

Other TV credits include six years as Geraldine Creagh in RTE's flagship drama, FAIR CITY, and two years as Carmel Doherty in ROS NA RÚN.

She recently filmed the role of Sheryl in the short film STARRY NIGHT directed by Emma Smith.


Carmel co-wrote/developed and starred in all of Inis Theatre's productions; THE WORLD'S WIFE, LADY SUSAN, TO KILL A DEADMAN and TICK MY BOX! (for which she co-won 'Best Actress' in the Dublin Fringe Festival).

Other theatre credits include work with Fishamble Theatre Co. (SHORTS) and the role of
Laeticia Pilkington in DUBLIN 1742 in The Ark.

She has fifteen years experience as a dubbing artist working on Irish language versions of shows such as THE MUPPETS and POWER RANGERS. Carmel is the Irish voice of Sandy Cheeks in SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS.
