John Kavanagh

 

John was recently seen in Ridley Scott's feature film THE LAST DUEL. He is currently filming the role of the Ancient Seer on Netflix series VALHALLA.  Other recent screen credits include the roles of the Ancient Seer and Pope Leo X in the History Channel's VIKINGS, the role of Arturo Toscanini in FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS directed by Stephen Frears, the role of Grandad in Ciarán Dooley's award winning short film THE GREAT WIDE OPEN, the role of Derry Quinn in John Butler’s THE STAG and the role of Inspector Michaud in Charlie Stratton’s IN SECRET.

John was most recently cast on stage in the role of Hugo Day in The Abbey Theatre's production of DONEGAL by Frank Mcguinness directed by Conall Morrison. Other recent theatre credits include the role of Lysander in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM at the Abbey, directed by Gavin Quinn, the role of Father in ARISTOCRATS directed by Patrick Mason at the Abbey Theatre, the role of the Duke of Albany in LEAR directed by Selina Cartmell, also at the Abbey, and the role of Drumm in Hugh Leonard's DA at the Gate Theatre. 

John is also a well-established and distinguished voiceover artist.

He is based in Dublin.
