Meghan Tyler

 

Meghan is an award-winning actor and writer from Newry who trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

They are currently appearing in CROCODILE FEVER at the Arcola Theatre, directed by Mehmet Ergen — a play they also wrote, now receiving its London premiere this Autumn. Recent stage work includes Gwendolen Fairfax in THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST at The Lyric Theatre, directed by Jimmy Fay, which will be remounted in 2026; Cora in AURORA at The MAC, Belfast and Project Arts Centre, Dublin, directed by Emma Jordan; Helena in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM at The Lyric Theatre; multiple roles in THE GAP YEAR; Woman in VARIANT; and Elizabeth Bennet on the UK tour of the Royal Lyceum Theatre’s *PRIDE & PREJUDICE (*SORT OF)**. Previous to this, they played Stella in the critically acclaimed Lyric Theatre production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, also directed by Emma Jordan.

Further theatre work includes MEDICINE (Off the Middle / Hope Theatre), KING KEICH, THE PERSIANS, and THE WEIR SISTERS (Òran Mór / Traverse Theatre); THE MERCHANT OF VENICE (Shakespeare’s Globe); THE CRUCIBLE (Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh); A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM and TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA (Guildford Shakespeare Company); HAMLET (Citizens Theatre, Glasgow); SECRET SHOW 1 (Blood of the Young / Tron Theatre); LOVERS and LOOK BACK IN ANGER (Cumbernauld Theatre); and NOTHING TO BE DONE (Setkani/Encounter, Neu/Now Festival, and Edinburgh Festival).

Screen credits include ALMOST NEVER and SHETLAND (BBC), THE TOLL (Western Edge Pictures), EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY (BBC Northern Ireland), and SCOT SQUAD (Comedy Unit / BBC).

As a writer, Meghan has received the Channel 4 Playwrights’ Bursary and a New Playwrights Award from Playwrights’ Studio Scotland, as well as the Stewart Parker Award for Crocodile Fever (The Lyric Theatre / Traverse Theatre). They were part of the New Playwrights Programme at The Lyric Theatre and the 2022 Convergence Cohort at Short Circuit.

Their writing credits include MEDICINE, THE PERSIANS, GOLDEN ARM THEATRE PROJECT, and NOTHING TO BE DONE, which won the MARTA Award for Best Script.
